HOW TO GET THERE:

By Air

Now in its second year of operation, the Iloilo International Airport is located about 20 kilometers outside the city in the municipality of Cabatuan. Davao, Cebu and Manila, are the regional gateways to get thru Iloilo. Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Zest Air and Air Philippines is serving the airport with a total of 10 jet flights daily. Each flight will take approximately 45 minutes.

From the airport, metered taxis are available outside. Although some taxi drivers will insist on pre-arrange fees, most of them will later agree with the metered agreement which usually drops at Php120 to Php180 upon arrival at the City of Iloilo. Sometimes the driver will ask you to add Php10.00 to its meter. For backpackers who are in saving mode, shuttle services are of great option. For just Php50.00, Suzie Star Tours (Van Shuttle Service) will strategically drop you at SM City Iloilo, Jaro Plaza and Molo Plaza.

Sea and RORO Options

Domestic Port at Fort San Pedro (Iloilo-Manila and Iloilo-Cebu), Muelle Loney Port (Bacolod-Iloilo) and Ortiz Port (Iloilo-Guimaras) are the main ports of call in the province which are all conveniently located in the City of Iloilo .
Sailing time is about 20 hours from Manila 12 times weekly; from Zamboanga or Cagayan de Oro, 14 hours twice a week; from Cebu, 12 hours once daily. Fastcrafts from Bacolod City take 50 minutes. There is also a nautical highway service by roll-on-roll-off (RORO) vessels fom various parts of the country. Bus terminals are in Ali Mall Cubao, Quezon City and Pasay City .
Taxi services outside the ports are available which can tour and bring you around Iloilo City in less than a hundred.
How to get thru the registration area will be posted here soon. For the meantime have your tickets booked online to ensure the cheapest way to get here.

Your First Shooting Guidelines

Choose a Subject
Choosing the right subject is crucial to create beautiful photographs.

Find a good shooting angle
Shot from different angles, definitely one angle will look better on another, so it is crucial to choose the most flattery one.

Improve working distance
It is the distance between the front of the lens and the subject.
By reducing distance, we can show the subject more prominently. To add impact, use telephoto end of the zoom.

Shift the subjects away from center (Rule of Thirds)
The place of the subject will definitely affect the visual quality of the image. Placing the subject in center is sometimes effective, and quite dull. Placing it to one side of the lens will create an interesting sense of space. This application is called "Rule of Thirds".

Four Digital Setting

We do have four basic digital settings:

ISO speed: Indication of how sensitive the camera to ambient light

White balance: When you shoot in different lightning conditions, it will ensure that the white areas will look white in captured scene.

Picture Styles: One of this style is the Standard which makes the images vivid and crisp. It is a general-purpose style that wroks well in many scene.

Image-recording quality: Always set to highest level quality in JPEG format.

How To Use Camera Menus?

In a series of dial-and-button manipulations, we realize that the LCD monitor is not a convenience because of different manipulations to be made. Not only the LCD monitor gives us wealth of information, it also provides us menu to simplify changing individual setting.

We are not saying everyone will find these menus easy to use. On-screen menus seems 'intuitive' for a person who is used to electronic devices, but seem puzzling for those who doesn't have any background. To avoid this frustration, we don't need to memorize all menus at once. We only need to understand how to navigate this menus and how they are organized.

Familiarize Camera Buttons

Some of us are having  hard time memorizing, right? So here's the tip: Familiarize Camera Buttons

It's normal for a digital camera to be jam-packed with feature, with the assortment buttons and control keys. It's hard to memorize all at once, it's feature and buttons.

But thankfully, there really is no such need. It's enough to learn names of the major camera parts.

Factors in Choosing A Camera

Nowadays, there are a wide selection of camera and camera bodies to choose from.

The price of an entry level model is quite cheaper, they are easy to carry and easy to operate. At the other end are the bigger, rugged models designed for professionals.

Whichever type of camera you are inclined to buy, always remember that it's not the price of the camera that determines the quality of the shots, but rather the skills used in operating a camera and the specification of it.

We recommend you to start at an entry-level model, and then more as you develop your skills.

As mountaineer, it is really important to take picture that is conveying a lot of meaning. Pictures are our living evidence of our ultimate adventure.
